Why Organic?
For many people, buying or eating organic foods is part of their everyday lives. For others it is uncommon, and for some unthinkable. Here are a few reasons we choose organic.
Health
Due to the way organic food is grown and produced, it generally contains higher levels of vitamins and minerals. Organic foods are also higher in antioxidants.
Avoidance of Pesticides
Conventional farming routinely uses over 400 pesticides in the growing of its crops. Organic farming avoids the use of such pesticides, making the food healthier and more nutritious.
Animal Welfare
Animal Welfare is taken extremely seriously under any organic standards. Organic animals have access to the outdoors, and are not confined in cramped, stressful living conditions. Organically reared animals are not allowed GM food, growth promoting drugs or routine antibiotics. Caring continues after the farm gate, with transport and slaughter being undertaken as humanely as possible.
Environmental Issues
The lack of chemicals and pesticides in the way organic farmers grow their produce has greatly benefited the environment by the encouragement of more farm birds on land and the lack of pollution in nearby streams and rivers.
Greater for Taste
A significant number of top chefs have promoted the use of organic food and spoken of the difference in taste. Come and visit us and perform your own taste test. You will be pleasantly surprised!
